About me

Jane Hough

My Story

Throughout the past 15 years I have been working in the education sector as a Primary School Teacher, taking on the role of Music Co-ordinator and specialising  in Early Years Education and Communication and Language.  I am passionate about the profound power and influence that sound and music can have upon social, emotional and developmental growth.

My professional journey began with a degree in Music, Media and Cultural Studies (Ethnomusicology) followed by a PGCE to fulfil my dream of teaching. During my time as a Teacher, I navigated towards Reiki, a powerful practice to help me manage my own health and wellbeing whilst working within such a highly pressurised and busy profession.

From a young age, I have always been captivated by the beauty of nature and the subtle energies that flow. Becoming attuned in Reiki not only deepened my understanding of these energies but also strengthened my connection to them. As I engaged more with holistic treatments on a personal level, it became glaringly obvious how vital it is to impart skills and techniques to people of all ages and in different stages of life.

I was then introduced to the power of sound healing, an ancient practice that was almost lost in the West until acoustic researchers discovered Ultrasound in the 1930s and soon after recognised the potential of sound within healing. Sound Healing is a profound therapy, not only physically but mentally.  Being introduced to the insightful teachings of Sound Healing and delving into the origins of this ancient practice I knew what I must set out to do.

My aim is to preserve the authenticity of traditional sound healing, through the use of instruments and tools but also the voice, and make it accessible for all to access no matter what their age, profession, background or lifestyle. Sound healing is a tool that can be harnessed for positive impact depending upon personal need.  I feel incredibly fortunate to have been guided towards sound healing practices, Reiki and wellbeing and I am a proud member of The Complimentary Medical Association and The College of Sound Healing. Both of these memberships enable me to continually develop my own professional development so that I can continually and  consistently enhance my practice to impart ways that can enhance and facilitate healing within a modern society.

I invite you to explore Makia further so that you can see how I can guide, facilitate healing and impart techniques that will balance mind, body and energy in this busy world in which we live.
